Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix

2.0

This is the book for you if you love:
• terrible pacing
• reading about snot
• authors who refer to a 14 and 15-year old children as "women" (see chapter 27)
• the "magical negro" trope
• one-dimensional characters and antagonists of cartoon-level evil
an evil librarian

• headhopping
• a wedding ring that somehow fits anyone's ring finger.
• three scenes involving tongues that makes one suspect that the author recently bit his tongue badly.
"mercy" to mean allowing a predator victimize little girls for decades.

This book was a slog to get through. Even the writing in "action" scenes felt repetitive and tedious. The witchcraft chants were laughable - "aeiou!" Overall, a surprisingly out of touch take on maternity homes with zero subtly and very little paranormal.

If you are into witchcraft, this book will piss you off.
