Blind Descent: The Quest to Discover the Deepest Place on Earth
by James M. Tabor
There are lots of flaws with this book:
1. The author writes poorly and doesn't understand how to limit hyperbole.
2. You can't compare an unknown (quest for the deepest place) with a known (quest to climb Everest or reach the North Pole).
3. The whole concept of deepest is flawed.
4. The American caver is a jackass and the Russian guy is hardly profiled and didn't even go on the key expedition, so you can't really root for either of them.
So, basically, don't bother reading this, because as the author himself acknowledges, no one knows where the deepest cave is.
