Death and Croissants by Ian Moore
5.0

This is absolutely delightful! My second reading.

British Richard is a retired Film Historian having a bit of a mid-life crisis and pending divorce, isn’t your typical Inn Keeper in rural France. His constant film references quoting old movies is so much fun and often hilarious, especially because nobody gets them. Also his greatest nemesis is IMBD.

Cue Valerie an elusive mysterious French woman with a chihuahua, also having a bit of a mid-life crisis staying at Richard’s Inn. There is a strict no pet policy.

It’s like Fawlty Towers with British-French jokes instead of British-Spanish jokes. And more amateur detecting. And film noir references.

So, it’s perfect for me.
