A Word Child by Iris Murdoch

The main character needs medication, my opinion. He's stumbling from one awkward, rude moment to the next acting selfishly with a tad of guilt occasionally. The book holds out promise of a tidy ending - but it doesn't happen and that's what the story is about. Characters are hanging on with one hand while leaning into the other characters fabricated story lines. I'm glad I read it even though I could only stick with a couple of chapters before taking a break. Definitely unique.
