Ellie and Trace are such a sweet couple, but I am gutted that we missed a meet-cute with them. In Chasing Shelter, they’ve already met, think the other is attractive, and don’t intend on doing anything about it. There isn’t a lot of yearning or tension, just getting on with their lives as neighbours and finding the other hot, and then, very quickly, they’re together.

Chasing Shelter, as a whole, is a fast-paced book. There’s a lot happening and so it needs to be to get through it all. Yet, at times, it feels like parts of the story definitely could have been cut to allow for more depth in those more pivotal plot points. For example, we could have had less tension with Leah, maybe less of other men wanting to ask Ellie out, etc. They’re okay plot points but they don’t add to the story much, and it meant that we had less time to explore things like Trace’s anger, for example.

I have a few questions that I’m hoping will be answered later but I’m not sure:
where was Fletcher when they all went to rescue Ellie? What made Dex decide to make the trip? What are Arden and Linc’s twins called?
I obviously also have questions about Kye but I know those answers are coming.

I enjoyed this story, but I’m beginning to feel like this series is getting very ‘samey’ so I’m looking forward to Fallon and Kye’s story which, I imagine, will be quite different.
