I will not claim that I am new to Silvia Moreno-Garcia, I am a fan and I love her work. This book is another addition to the favorites list, her story weaving of historical events and fictional people she put into the story was amazing.

The characters are wonderful, the story is engaging, and I was weirdly rooting for multiple characters (even if they were morally grey). The main character was hesitant to get involved, but kept getting pulled into a very messy scenario. The clear flaws that each character possessed were real and realistically portrayed. The conflict was very real and incredibly interesting as you kept guessing about who people were beneath their call-names and masks.
