The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
2.0
Picked this one up because of all the hype it got, and it was an easy read over Christmas break. Each of Evelyn Hugo's marriages marked a phase in her life, and the storyline transitioned surprisingly smoothly from one to another. It had some good quotable-quotes, so I can see why it's such a popular book. You'd probably enjoy this if chick lit is your go-to genre.
My three main gripes with this book are 1) pockets of cringeworthy writing, 2) unsatisfying plot twist at the end and 3) that despite weaving many complex subjects (abusive relationships, navigating queer love in the 1950s) into the storyline, they were largely discussed rather superficially.
