Ordinary Notes by Christina Sharpe

challenging emotional informative inspiring reflective sad medium-paced

5.0

A poignant and achingly profound book of increasingly intertwined notes—thoughts gathered from a myriad of sources that each strike a chord alone and together to create such a powerful and deeply poetic collection of  musings on the ordinary and extraordinary facets of Black existence.

Christina Sharpe grapples with both public and personal loss, grief, trauma and the epigenetic inheritance of it—from slavery to our current state of systemic racism a lot of people can’t even acknowledge exists—and how we interact with and participate in that every day.

It’s a beautiful, tender and quietly devastating work of art that I wish I could convince everyone to read.
