I didn't think this book was that bad. I read it when I was in middle school, so that makes me a little biased because I loved it then. But reading it now was a little eh. It starts off kind of slow in that the entire first half of the book is her and Xavier and teen drama and whatnot and then it introduces the element of darkness and the sole purpose of the angels being in Venus Cove, but then it picks up after prom with the whole Jake Thorn story line.

It's a little cheesy and slightly cringe-y when Beth and Xavier have the fight about Jake kissing her at prom and her whole world stops and starts when Xavier forgives her and then they continue like nothing happened. It's a little all over the place in terms of focusing on Beth and Xavier and then going back to their heavenly mission, but I didn't think it was terrible. I would give it 3.5/5, but we apparently don't do half stars here.

Tl;dr - it's a cute romance story for the first half and then gets into demons and darkness in like the last quarter
