The Lions of Lucerne by Brad Thor
3.0

Secret Service Agent Scot Harvath is protecting the President's daughter on a family ski trip when the unimaginable happens - they are ambushed on the ski slopes, the President is kidnapped, and only Scot and the president's daughter survive the attack.

Injured, he vows to get the President back and avenge the death of his men but soon the eye of suspicion turns towards him. Everyone he trusts turns against him and friends looking to him for help turn up dead.

Thus starts a global mission to find the President before various groups of hit-men find him. Helped by a very capable Swiss Investigator, Claudia Mueller, this first in the series is action packed and complicated by political and financial motivations. It made me think of the Jason Bourne books...although somewhat different. The author has been known to use local sites in his novels. (One part of the epliogue took place in Lake Geneva, for example.)

Another one I'd give a 3.5 to - I already bought the next in the series.
