Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

4.0

Rearead 3/17/19: I don't hate the open ended the conclusion was this time around because it left me really hopeful for whatever came next in Cath's life. My heart was genuinely so full listening to it this time around, and I really needed a little light hearted love in my bookish life right now. It's definitely looking like more of a 4.0-4.5/5 instead of 5/5, but still fantastic nonetheless.

Original Read:
I’m... wow??? This book was such a surprise because I wasn’t expecting to like it at all really.

The ending was literally my only main issue. I hate how open ended it was cause it left me feeling a little flat.

Some things that stood out to me:
⁃When their dad goes manic, you get a great view into the mindset of the fear that comes along with it being ‘in her DNA’
⁃I cant judge the mental health aspect of it, but it was really interesting to see the family view of Cath and Wren with their dad
⁃Cath sometimes threw me off with how unwilling she was to let go of certain things like with Wren and her mom, but again, gave me new insight!
⁃Rowell has such a phenomenal way of drawing you in! i got so invested in Cath’s life and her state of mind, where she stood with Levi - I’m wowed.
⁃“You can park your snark at the gate, Omaha” ALRIGHT LEVI
⁃I like that regardless of Levi’s involvement, the story is still about Cath << !!!

Overall, a fantastic read that had me seriously emotionally invested for these characters and their development. AND A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR OUR GIRL CATH FOR SENDING NICK HOME. Peace out my dude!
