This is a story that needed to be, a story exactly right for the times and one that will likely be taught in schools in decades since. It’s also a story that’s been told before, unfortunately, but that does not diminish its need or its power. It joins a long tradition of stories that attempt to break through the entrenched, to expose the rhetoric, to illustrate the problem, like Harlan Ellison’s “Neither Your Jenny Nor Mine.” It’s not easy to read, but the then subject is not an easy one to live through. We need better options. Highest recommendation.
