A Beautiful Story About Connection, Resilience, and the Strength of Women

I really enjoyed this story. It had mystery, a bit of magic, and a bit of love (though not in the romantic sense). I am not typically a reader of historical fiction, and this was a perfect blend for me with just enough magic to keep me hooked.

I will say, that I think I connected with and loved this book because I related to the characters. Yes, it seems silly that Caroline abandoned her possible career to marry a narcissist and then subsequently work on a farm. However if you have ever been in any kind of relationship with a narcissist, you understand just how much you can lose yourself in their orbit. On a related note, her husband's... Choice.... Also made perfect sense to me as he was a narcissist! He was manipulating her.

Both of the adult perspectives do mention pregnancy and children a good bit in their inner monologues, so if that isn't for you then don't read this. I really related to this though. I am glad that
Caroline was not pregnant in the end
as that would have been disappointing.

I also loved all of the information on herbs, plants, etc that could be used in different remedies. I am now going to go find a book about herbalism!
