The Germans won WWII and it is 1964. The setting is the days just before the national holiday to celebrate the Fuhrer's 75th birthday. A major government official is found murdered and an investigation begins. The lead investigator is not well liked by the establishment and his investigation soon becomes hampered by the senior command. It is a fascinating look at what the world might have been like if the war had gone differently. Very good writing with a good suspenseful build up to the end.
