Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

I liked this book very much, for a couple of reasons.
Since you know that Biafra didin't win the war, this is one of those book where it tells a story that you know the end of, but you still want to know the process of. I didn't know practically anything abou the war previous to the book, so it taught me a lot about the actual history of Nigeria.
Besides the history of the book, I liked much more the character development. The author definitely takes a lot of thought into the characters, not just retelling the war.I hold my same opinion that I did for the entire book, that by far my favorite character is Kainene. I identify the most with her, and she never really betrayed anyone beside herself, while almost every single other character in the book did something very horrible to someone else.
In the end, as expected, it was a depressing book, but it should be because it is a very depressing place and time in history.
