I was really looking forward to reading this collection of Roth short stories, as I've always enjoyed her writing. However, this collection really disappointed me. The books all have a common theme in that they are sci-fi/fantasy in genre and someone/something dies. So head up, triggers for that.

The first short story was actually quite alright - there was hope, some cool technology, got me thinking about what I would do in a similar situation to the characters. But after that, the rest of the stories just went down hill. They felt cheesy, badly written, and like plot fillers to something larger. I understand that short stories don't have much space to flesh out characters in too much depth, but that doesn't mean that they can't be interesting. Unfortunately, I just didn't really care what happened to a lot of the characters due to general bad writing. This was published in 2019 as well, definitely would have expected this to have been a first book published kind a work, where the author is still working on getting... good.
