The Solace: Shakespeare is known as the GOAT for a reason. King Lear is by far my favorite tragedy for its beautiful themes, the slow shift into madness, and unforgettable characters - some appearing exactly as they may seem but not to those who matter, and some appearing not at all how they seem to none who matter.
The Dread: It is Shakespeare - so some of the language gets lost at first read, needing a second-third read and help from the text notes, but it is worth diving into.
Overall, I will always recommend Shakespeare because references are everywhere, especially King Lear because it's so beautiful in its hopeless hopefulness.
