The A to Z of You and Me by James Hannah
4.0

I picked up this book as a random challenge to myself in the library to judge a book by its cover, without ever having read a thing about it. And I really do love the cover. That being said, this book was an interesting, dark read about a man laying in hospice dying and using the A-Z of body parts (A is for Adam's apple) to recollect things about his life as a thought exercise to occupy the time. As he makes his way through the alphabet (and gets closer to his death) his A-Z game begins to spiral around the his story of the love and loss of his life and how he can have closure.

While it's definitely a dark book and not particularly uplifting, I did find it to be a thoughtful read that I enjoyed, even though the main character was not particularly redeeming, nor was his life story. It was an elegant look at death and the impact that leaving unresolved issues can have on those we love. I rated it a 4, but it's probably between a 3.5 and a 4.
