At some point, I felt like I was forcing myself to get through it- I wasn’t actually invested in the characters or the story. I do typically like morally grey characters, and I liked Jamie enough, but found Zoe annoying. 
I don’t think this book is slated as YA, but I would describe the writing as juvenile. About halfway through the book,

after they first discover Telos and how the acquired their powers

, the plot devolves and gets messy and nonsensical.
