The Bookseller's Tale by Ann Swinfen
3.0

Quite good - a bit of a poor knock-off of the Shardlake books (earlier in history but the structure and protagonists are very similar). The aspect I really enjoyed was the history of 14thC Oxford, as I live there and studied there. The crime plot itself was laughably simple - I figured every "twist" out about 100 pages before the reveal and the final denouement wasn't much cop.

The physical book itself looks and feels self published - it's a weird shape (almost A4, taller than normal for its width), I think the font is just Times New Roman, and the font size and even colour (grey instead of black) changes occasionally for no reason. I don't think I'll read any more of her books but I finished it and it wasn't awful.
