The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery
5.0

On a cold Canadian morning, Valancy Stirling woke up and told her awful family, “I don't give a damn 'bout my reputation,” & promptly started her new life of not giving a damn about her reputation.

Okay, that’s not how it went, but then again, it kind of happened like that.

“The Blue Castle” is very relatable & incredibly easy to read. The family dynamics in this are on point for real! It always amazes me how a book written a century ago could hit so close to home.

Another thing, I love how the romance did not take away at all from Valancy’s journey. It was sweeping, swoon worthy, and a total slowburn.

Did I mention that this book is absolutely hilarious? I have written many intelligent thoughts in the margins such as, “lol”, “bro”, and “I can’t”.

Will I ever be able to find another classic that is slightly dark, light hearted, and romantic just like “The Blue Castle”? A girl can wish.
