I bought this book forever ago and picked it as a jam jar read. So I didn’t remember that it was about demons. It’s not my favorite branch of paranormal/fantasy but it was highly recommended by some Goodreads friends so I thought I would give it a try.
It was an ok read. My favorite part was the setting. I love New Orleans. I would go visit my family there every year. I drink coffee and chickory every morning. I’m even eating a king cake right now. I read that the author was from Louisiana and it shows. The setting was well written.
Genevieve was the main character and she’s a little immature for her age. This is a new adult book with the character in college in her 20s, but she seemed young. Jude was a good love interest, if a bit stereotypical. But I’m a sucker for a bodyguard falls for their charge.
Even though I didn’t care for this one, I think that if you like urban fantasy, this one with demons and angels might interest you.
