Rule Britannia by Daphne du Maurier

3.0

I’m saddened that this book was so difficult to go through. I literally had to force myself to continue reading it, and I only did because I wanted to see what the consequences of Brexit could be according to du Maurier. Such a recent topic that was thought up by the writer about fifty years ago. That alone made me want to read it. I’m not even sure why I didn’t like it. The lack of suspenseful events? Unrealistic scenarios? Strange dialogues? The writer herself did not expect to receive negative critique, being seen as her worst novel as to how different it is compared to her previous books. I still plan on reading more of du Maurier throughout this year, knowing how much of an amazing writer she is.
