Cirque Du Freak, Vol. 1 by Darren Shan

5.0

I love manga, and so I was thrilled when I found a manga version of Cirque Du Freak. It's interesting to see someone else's depiction of the character, and now when I read the book, I see those characters instead of my own versions. That's okay because I loved how he portrayed Darren, Steve, Mr. Crepsley, and all the others! Steve was creepier than what I'd orginally thought, and I love it! x] It had some scenes that the novel didn't have, but I was fine with that because it fit in so well with the story.
I believe that Takahiro Arai did a great job, maybe even better than Darren Shan! His sad scenes made me cry, while Shan's scenes only made me sad; no tears were wasted there. But Arai had some kind of magic that captured the sorrow of Darren's dad as he cried for his son to live. I couldn't hold back the tears, I was so touched. Takahiro Arai is a true master, and his art is great too.
