The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom
5.0

Wow. This is one of those books that put fiction to shame. You couldn't make up the power in this story. Told from the first-person viewpoint of Corrie ten Boom, this book tells of her family's work with the Dutch Underground movement during the Holocaust. As she recounts her experiences aiding and hiding Jews, and her eventual time spent in a concentration camp for this dangerous service, her faith in God and perpetual optimism and joy triumph over the evil of the hour. And what's even more amazing is her humility. She never praises her own work or her own faith--she is constantly highlighting the good works and love of others (her father, her mother, her sister, and, ultimately, Christ). Just remarkable. I will be buying this for my shelves for sure.
