His Bloody Project: Documents Relating to the Case of Roderick Macrae
by Graeme Macrae Burnet
I don't remember how this book came to be on my reading list. I'm glad I happened upon it, as it was very intriguing. It's presented as a glimpse of history, but it's a novel written with a new approach: as a "found" memoir. The story is well told and the characters are detailed. I usually like to know all the details and secrets at the end of a book, but in this case, I'm okay with a bit of mystery left at the end.
