Indelicacy by Amina Cain

4.0

Really loved this book. Only gave it 4 stars rather than 5 because I also just read Cain's latest book "A Horse at Night" which I adored and gave 5 stars and if I'm being honest liked just a bit more for no particular reason but it just captured me more. That said, this is a terrific book that takes place in a different time but plumbs the protagonist's inner life so deeply you often forget where you are - in a good way. She is a woman who wants only to write except when she doesn't, goes from poor to rich to somewhere in between and ends up where she wants to be. She doesn't think she has a great talent and she probably doesn't but she loves writing for its own sake and for how it fills her life and I just loved that. Well worth reading.
