This was just way too tropey for me.
Spoilers- There was no tension or conflict between the FMC and MMC, nor the other characters. Two, basically complete strangers, with a ton of trauma individually, marry, move to another state, and magically become inseparable with zero conflict/miscommunication. It was too perfect fairytale to be interesting to read. They each knew exact ally what to say or do every single time, I mean come on.
Also, way too many tropes- FMC has a relationship with her step brother, witnessing family being offed, widow MMC who is all in a new relationship, the MMC’s whole family accepts the FMC without question, FMC has killed multiple people in the past and doesn’t remember it (??), the FMC is secretly a sociopath with no remorse for killing people (along with several members of the MM’s family) the FMC is adopted (no one knows) and volunteers at an orphanage, the little boy at the orphanage who no one figured out speaks Italian until the FMC and MMC do, etc. It was all too much and tended to take away from the plot.
I ended up skimming the last 25% of the book because it was all too much.
