This novel has many interesting perspectives on race and ethnicity as well as culture, but I had expected it to deal with alienation in a different way. I was also not a huge fan of the way the "romance" plot line was resolved. Definitely still a good recommendation for those looking for a glimpse into the experience of racism (and colourism).
