Batman: Death by Design by Dave Taylor, Chip Kidd

5.0

This graphic novel would be perfect to make into a Batman movie. Gotham is demoing the old Wayne Central Station building, and various players, including bad guys and Bruce Wayne, have differing interests in how it turns out. You've got a new (I think) villain named Exacto, along with Joker and some other bad normal humans. While I usually get bored with the novelty of black-and-white comics, the art and style of this story are perfectly represented by this choice. My only (small) complaints with this book are: 1) the faces and silhouettes of the characters are inconsistent -- luckily there aren't too many characters that dress the same, or I would have been lost on who's who; 2) Exacto is so retro that he is almost corny. However, all in all, one of my favorite Batman stories in a long time.
