Duck à l'Orange for Breakfast by Karina May

5.0

I picked the most decadent and empowering Easter Long Weekend read, let me tell you all about it.
Although our protagonist Max is definitely Going Through It™ this book is a perfect choice to unwind and decompress. Food is glorified and there are many delicious depictions of food throughout, make sure you have ample snacks (or ingredients) on hand in case you feel the need to cook something pronto (there are recipes in the back, it would be rude not to.) Max herself is a lovely person to spend time with, reliably funny and relatable she is a breeze to empathise with.

Duck a l'Orange for Breakfast is described as a rom com but I would not necessarily throw it into that category, romance does not feel like the focus of this book but it also is not shoehorned in at the end. This is about finding yourself and making the most out of life which is absolutely timeless.

I haven't enjoyed myself as much reading a book in so long. This is Karina May's debut but it feels like a gift from a well-seasoned author, she has automatically become an autobuy author for me, I absolutely cannot wait to see what she releases next!

5/5 stars, how could I give it anything less?
