Luncheon of the Boating Party by Susan Vreeland
3.0
Eh. I'll give it 3 stars because it's probably not bad for the kind of book it is, I just should have known that this kind of historical fiction (shocker) isn't for me.
I think one of the biggest reasons is because I can't stop thinking the whole time about the author's intention, what they're trying to do, all the little connections and references they've done so much work to weave in. Which, like, I can appreciate that it took effort and talent. But books that I spend thinking about the author and the writing process rather than what was written . . . are not it for me.
