I’ve never loved a book for being so… unlike a book. it took ~3 weeks to read &, at some points, I did feel eager to finish the book, but it was so beautiful to just get lost in this world of the Night Circus.

the world building & scenery & ambience was a different level. it reminded me a lot of Caraval, if the book focused more on descriptions and less on the plot. the fact that it even talked about the fans who follow the circus immersed me even more. every detail was planned & explained in full.

spoilers:
even the plot was entertaining. I didn’t understand what “two magicians battling each other” would mean, but I was not disappointed. I think the point of the book was that there was no point (much like how the battle was not a show of skill but endurance; it acted as an exhibition).

I fell in love with each character, which made the ever-haunting reality that the battle involved more people than just Celia & Marco a sad truth to swallow. I’m grateful that there’s no loose ends & everyone got a happy ending (I like to think that Celia & Marco would live happily together, bounded to the circus, watching their found family grow & perform; plus, it’s all they’ve known).
