The Truths We Hold: An American Journey by Kamala Harris

4.0

”Let’s find time between the marching and the shouting to dance, sing, and laugh - to be joyful warriors.”

What a way to start off 2021! I really enjoyed this. Kamala Harris is someone I have really come to admire, and this book made me love her even more.

I feel like this was really well-written. I know this is supposed to be her “memoir” but it actually contains more of her thoughts on policy than her life (likely because this was released right before her presidential campaign). Normally I would get bored reading an entire book about that, but I didn’t feel that way at all. Some chapters tackled topics that I found more interesting than others, but I found myself wanting to yell “YESSSSSSS” most of the time, so I guess that’s a good thing.

It feels amazing to know that we will finally have a woman in the White House - and that it will be this incredible woman.
