The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren
4.0

I am torn about how to review this book. I am glad I read some other reviewers' comments so I know I'm not the only one.

This book has been highly recommended to me by several people I know and trust. But... I'm not sure if I expected too much out of it or if it is just not for me, or what.

I feel like what is presented in this book is nothing necessarily ground-breaking. If I could sum up this whole book in one sentence, I would say the lesson is, "Serve God by serving people." And I agree with that 100%, but... I guess I was hoping for something to more refine my faith.

I do think this book would be helpful for someone that is new to the faith and wants to know where to start. The chapters are short and the language is accessible, so pretty much anyone can read and understand it. The author also gives suggestions about how to apply what you are learning to your life, which I think is a good idea for people who are making the transition from self-centered thinking to God-centered thinking.

I don't think I will be reading this book again, but I might recommend it to people who are new to the faith.
