When the Sea Came Alive: An Oral History of D-Day
by Garrett M. Graff
This book offers an impressive amount of detail, even for someone who has a firm grasp of the basics (the perks of having a dad with a WWII special interest). There was so much I didn't know about the planning, training, and preparation for the invasion. My project manager brain was buzzing by the attention to detail and all of the logistics.
The ensemble cast's audiobook narration is astounding. The inclusion of a few key pieces of archival audio (including Churchill's speech after the Dunkirk evacuation, presidential addresses commemorating the anniversary of D Day, and Eisenhower's famous Order of the Day) really elevate the audio production.
