Julie Soto… what have you done?! 🗣️
Rose in Chains is *dark* romantasy. (Pls check ya TWs.) If like me you’ve read the rest of her trad pubbed backlist but not her Dramione fanfic (yet… I know I know), please prepare yourself for a whole different side of JS. (Also, it should be said she handled the darker aspects of this book thoughtfully.)
RIC is adapted Dramione fanfic, which I do love, but I truly think this story stands on its own. I was intrigued by the magic system, politics, and world building. If you’re reading this for the romance, it’s a slooow burn. Think school crushes, yearning, and banter while the relationship between Briony and Toven is revealed through flashbacks and developments in the present. And this is only the first book of a new trilogy???
I’m obsessed with Ella Lynch as the narrator! I normally don’t do audio for fantasy, but she might’ve converted me. 👀
Thank you to Netgalley, Forever, and Hachette Audio for the ALC!! 🎧
