River Woman by Katherena Vermette

I enjoyed this poetry collection for the most part. It was beautifully written, and gave a lot of Metis meaning and importance of water, which I appreciated.

I was not aware of the history of the Metis, but knowing that their fate was just as tragic and bloody as Native Americans is saddening. This is a poetry collection that should be taught in history classes throughout the world. It is a bold collection that brings light to what actually happened to the aboriginal people of Canada.
