DNF. Yikes! There may be spoilers but I don’t care. I thought I was going to read a light little Christmas story after reading some heavy books lately. Instead, this book was disturbingly racist. I can’t even put in words my disappointment to see a modern author glorifying the service of a Black Gullah domestic worker who comes back from heaven to serve her former employers and set them on the right track so she can earn her wings.
Good grief! And to do that she has to cook food and clean and prepare the house for Christmas while imparting sassy words of wisdom to her former employer. I’m disgusted.
