Lärjungen by Hans Rosenfeldt, Michael Hjorth

3.0

The real rating for this would be 3.5 stars, 3 feels a bit too low. The book starts off really well and during the two thirds from the beginning I didn't want to put the book down. The case the team has is intriguing, quite Criminal Minds-esque with the whole copycat theme. Bergman and Hinde's psychological war could have been even better, something that I would have liked to see explored more. It was nice to see character development when it comes to Billy and Bergman's downward spiral from obsession to depression and resignation was chilling and definitely one of the best things about this book. However, I feel that the big reveal came too early in the book and killed some of the suspension which in turn made the end feel cliched and rushed. The subplot with Ellinor is intriguing and it'll be interesting to see how Bergman handles it and what it truly turns out to be. Haraldsson, once again, was infuriating and made me want to scream at him and his stupid actions. I do like the books this pair is writing and I know I'll be reading the next one(s) as well.
