The Investigation by Philippe Claudel

3.0

I enjoyed the first two thirds of the book. The Inspector bumbling through a nightmarish but almost real town and workplace. Very Kafka. A lot of the The Third Policeman. Slighter than both. But I liked the people as types, the knowing-ness (the Inspector pointing out that these odd occurrences are the sort of thing that would happen in fiction).
The end ramps up the horror a bit, but frustratingly loses momentum and eventually fizzles out.
