Death and the Maiden by Ariel Dorfman

4.0

Scenario: I'm currently in tech for All My Sons (a fairly intense, dark script). As yesterday was Monday, it was our night off, so naturally I had another rehearsal for our next script reading: this one.

An intense, dark script on my night off from an intense, dark show.

Fabulous.

For a cast of only three people (and 60-some pages), there's a LOT in this. And it's A Lot. I think this one better lends itself to performance, considering all the stage directions which, in a reading, have the distinct possibility of taking the wind out of the actors' sails a bit, when they need to be thrown in between the highly-charged chunks of dialogue.
