Abundance, The by Amit Majmudar

5.0

This is one of the most compelling books I've read all year. I can't even think of the last time I read writing by a male that portrayed women in such a nuanced, complex, and completely believable way. While the book jacket makes it seem like the story is about selling the mother's recipes, that's really a small part of the whole story. It is a reflection on family, dying, tradition, and the differences in American vs. Indian cultures. I look forward to reading more from Dr. Majmudar...his writing style resonates with me and I think he does a lovely job building characters.
