points for the interesting premise and the cool twist on vampires being akin to snakes but was ultimately let down by the spotty pacing, lack of chemistry, and sparse plot. i didn't feel connected to any of the characters and didn't find any of the relationships, bar maybe phoebe and alina at an absolute push, that believable. i couldn't buy into silas and alina's relationship as there wasn't enough there to convince me of their feelings for one another. it felt like the relationship happened because the plot needed it to happen which was disappointing because there were some scenes in the middle that were actually kind of sweet. i can see the author's potential and appreciated the attention to detail on the science and the thought behind the vampiric lore but this ended up not for me.
Graphic: Rape, Sexual content, Sexual violence, Toxic relationship, Violence, Blood, Stalking
Moderate: Injury/Injury detail
