Reading this book was like being inside the head of an unmedicated crazy man. Bizarre for the sake of being bizarre, and I suspect people like this book just to be "different" but possibly because they are unmedicated. I was not a fan. There are tangible themes tied up in utter gibberish. I think that's the point of the book. Very similar to actual life and interactions, there are meaningful moments surrounded by absolute nonsense. That said, trying to wade through the confusion was draining. If it had not been a book club pick, I would have DNF. Sort of happy, I saw it through because as the themes become more clear, they also become more meaningful. Working as hard as I did to find the point of this book did not make that discovery any sweeter.
