Not all well received books should be series. I love A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. Good Girl, Bad Blood was okay but pulled a part a lot of threads that just shouldn't have been. This book - well I understood what it was trying to do with the character Pip, but I found it too jerky and sudden and all the other characters just felt flat in this book.

I'm happy to be plot was a cover up because I got to Jason's reveal and I was like "duh" and I would have been furious to read a whole book for that. That said the cover up was SO predictable it made it drag. I like books that do that sort of thing but there are twists and turns. Pip falling on her sword for no reason created tension just so another chapter could be added basically.

All in all the plot felt incomplete, missing the qualities that make this trope work well, and the ending predictable - it gets 3.25 mainly for the work setting everything up in the previous 2 books. Really this series would have been better not being a series.
