This is a “they save each other from themselves” tropey story, which is my favorite trope, whether friendship or romance. (The book is an ode to K-drama, which hopefully explains the overuse of “romance” tropes.) At the beginning, both characters are utterly despicable, selfish, acerbic. But if you can stay with it, they begin to change through their interactions with each other.
