Adult historical fiction with slice of life and slow burn.

The Golem and the Jinni perfectly executed historical fiction tied in with magical realism that weaves Jewish and Syrian folkore as the Chava (the golem) and Ahmad (the jinni) navigate this really complex balance of their true selves trying to blend in to a human world. It is a beautifully written magical story that tells the mundane tale of everyday life of NYC immigrants in 1899 only to be thrust into a fight for survival, not only for themselves, but those they have grown to love.
