the jump from “teehee we’re flirting ooooh im sexting you on AIM” to ”i am ingesting tapeworm eggs so i can pretend it is our child” was way too quick. the buildup didn’t work. a short book that i still found entirely too long. everything that wasn’t the worm was inane and didn’t really believably establish their relationship anyways. the other “scares” felt very random and trite. ultimately, i think that the e-mail / AIM format really held it back. yeah, people can be obsessed with people they never met, people get freaky about online strangers all the time. but like, THEM?????? it just struck me as very amateurish, but that being said i DO want to watch this author grow and read more. there are a few bits here that go pretty hard. i mean, the worm shit WAS pretty dope, i just didn’t buy their relationship or characters at alllllll
Graphic: Vomit, Toxic relationship, and Body horror
Moderate: Animal cruelty, Emotional abuse, and Child death
worms / insects, implied eye impaling?
