I literally haven’t stopped crying. It’s not even that it’s a depressing book, it was just so beautiful. They way these characters were written… they were alive on the page. I felt as if I could walk into a random coffee shop and see them there. They weren’t just in the reality that Alice Oseman created, they were in my reality too.
The way In which the author dealt with the theme of coming of age and discovering sexuality was so tragically human. The characters made mistakes while trying to discover themselves, and while these mistakes helped them in their journey, they were acknowledged as being inherently bad. The ability to appreciate mistakes and realise the consequences that come from them is the true beauty of humanity and I believe that this was perfectly portrayed in Alice Oseman’s “Loveless”
